4 years Later

It's quite common to follow up on a project, and when that happens, things can sometimes get very confusing.
Returning to the same refugee camp to visit the same kids four years after my initial visit and presenting them with pictures I had taken of them had a profound impact on me.
I'm not sure why, but I had a knot in my stomach the whole time. Perhaps it was because these kids were still where I left them years ago, or maybe it was seeing how much older they had grown,
Or perhaps it was just looking at them and seeing that the childhood light in their eyes had diminished as the realities of this world had set in.
